the biggest Polish cold water surfing competition- Cold Waves by Porsche has wrapped up its third edition.

Władysławowo. Here, at the base of the Hel Peninsula, shines one of the brightest spots on the Polish surfing map. We will meet here soon as part of the Cold waves by Porsche, to experience the unrestrained passion for surfing and the beauty of the winter Baltic Sea for the third time.
We’ll be looking for the best waves to the east from Władysławowo lighthouse. This spot blessed us during the previous two editions — we hope that this time, it will still provide a steady flow of impeccable emotions.
Our competition is open to spectators. The date will be dictated by the Baltic Sea, so do follow our weather alerts. More information below.
Cold wavesCOMPETITION
The Baltic is one of the coldest surfing spots in the world. Water temperature during the event will be as low as 1-2°C. Participants will compete in wetsuits, boots, and gloves that are at least 5 mm thick.
The competition will take place in the Men's Open and Women's Open categories, with approximately 40 male and female participants. The competition will consist of 15-minute heats, with 4 people in each heat. After each stage, 2 participants with the highest scores will advance further. Performances will be assessed by judges with International Surfing Association certification.
COMPETITION RULESAGENDA

ALERTS SYSTEM
Our event is coordinated by the experts from the Polish Surfing Association. They are constantly monitoring the weather to make sure that the contestants will compete in the most exciting conditions. To inform you about the date of the contest, we will use a system of weather alerts consisting of the following messages:

Miejsce zawodów: Władysławowo, Surf Stolica.
Weather window: the competition may be held from the 1st of February whenever the weather conditions allow for surfing.

Yellow alert: a preliminary announcement of the competition’s date a few days before.

Green alert: the official confirmation of the competition’s date.

Red alert: the conditions have changed, the competition is rescheduled.
Our spot is a typical beach break that requires a north swell of the right strength.
The maximum wave height here is 2-3 meters, with a period of 8-10 seconds.

The left-hand waves are usually longer, while on the right there are shorter, steeper sections. The most common type of wave is performance. On the best days (strong NW, N, or NE swell with offshore wind from SW or S directions), if a good sandbar forms behind the wooden posts, there’s a chance to ride a barrel wave.
During stormy conditions (NW-N swell with onshore wind from the same directions), the waves come closer to the harbour breakwater which cleans them up.
